Artec office has been placed in a 1905 house,
“Porfiriano style” catalogued by INBA. During 13 months,
and under the strict supervision of INBA, this house was
saved from demolition by “Sanchez Architectos”.
Structural columns were place since the original design
of the house did not use them. The house had an
inclination of 6º, and it was necessary to level the
house. The high of the house was extended by one meter
to place a middle wooden interior floor, and therefore,
fulfill all the requirements of a library and an
office. Some accesses the house had where closed, and
instead of them, two windows were placed to provide
light to the carpentry shop. The antique pink sandstone
was cleaned and new stones were placed to complete the
baseboard. A sealer and insulation was applied to
prevent underground humidity. The level of underground
water in this zone of the city is very high.
The Facade with carved Arches, made of pink sandstone,
was cleaned. Despite many layers of concrete paint, the
arches were completely cleaned enhancing the beauty of
the carved flowers and ribbons. Finally, the correct
color was made when researching about the original trend
used at the time the house was built, that is the XIX
century.
Artec opened to the public in this great new house in
May 2000. |
